Art on the Commons- Sunday August 9th

Posted on 10 August, 2009 at 6:01 Comments comments (3)

Sunday was a very hot day for Art on the Commons in Kettering, Ohio, but that didn't stop thousands of people from coming to the show. Art on the Commons is an annual Art's Festival which brings the national arts community to Dayton's doorstep.  Artists whose talents range from fine art to pottery to crafts to jewelry.  Each was there to display his or her artistic gifts to the public.

All in all, it was a very nice day for an art show.  Karen and her husband  went out for pizza afterwards, with her studio partner, Sharon and her friend, Francis. It was a lovely end to the day.

Booth 68 was Karen's residence for the day.  Many sweat droplets were shared at this space only a stone's throw from the fountains at the Kettering Commons.

Karen and Dick talked with a lot of friends. One of them was Rosemary Starr, a friend of theirs from the University of Dayton "Learning in Retirement" program.

Here is a photo, of the proud new owner of one of Karen's paintings.

Here are some pictures from my opening with George Armstrong at Bear's Mill.  We had a wonderful opening, on a beautiful evening.

The weather was nice, and refreshments were served on the deck.  George's Armstrong's homemade salsa was the hit of the evening!
